“Heat and Eat”

Apparently Frozen Home Cooked Meals already appeared for the first time as early as 1953 in the USA as the so-called “TV dinners”, as a solution for busy wives who could no longer spend hours in the kitchen every day to cook meals for their families because at that stage already they started to join the workforce.

This was most probably the birth of the “heat and eat” trend, which never faded and is today in the year 2012 maybe even more relevant and alive than 59 years ago. To this day convenience is most probably still the number one reason why people buy pre-prepared meals.

History shows us that because people are always looking for something new there will always emerge new trends, sometimes old trends will come back again, and very few trends will last for a very long time.

Today we are indeed privileged to live and experience the “Information and Technology Age” trend where the entire world is just a mouse-click away. We have access to this gigantic “Internet Library” and all these amazingly cool tools that allow us to get hold of any information, or item, we need or want in the blink of an eye.

But, unfortunately, this phenomenon has also changed the way we live, because just to keep up, let alone get in front, we have to move faster and faster, and with the cost of living spiraling upwards like a tornado, today more and more ladies have to, and maybe also want to, follow a career, rather than stay at home and raise a family.

All that said and done mum and dad get home tired, after a long exhausting, extremely stress-full work day at the office, and everybody, especially the young ones, are hungry and want to have dinner. So what now, another few hours needed to prepare a healthy home-cooked meal for the family, make sure that everyone’s homework is done, get them all through the bath, get them ready for bed, look after the pets, watch some TV, take care of oneself, and most important also spend some time with the love of one’s life. Wow, how does one do it?

All this are most probably important reasons why Restaurants, Take-Aways, and Convenience Food Shops will always exist and do business. The only problem is that to eat out has never been, and will never be, a long-term solution to the problem because, apart from the fact that it is also just getting more expensive by the day, it is also not always the healthiest way to feed the family.

So what other options are available then. Well mum, or for that matter dad, can prepare the family’s favorite home-cooked meals in advance, put it in the freezer, and then when needed take the frozen home-cooked meals from the freezer, pop it into the microwave, or oven, and onto the table for the “hungry lions”. The jackpot question is of course just when do mum or dad, or both, actually do the cooking? Will they fit it in every night, or early in the mornings before work, or over week-ends with the laundry, gardening, washing the car, going to church, buying groceries, spending quality time with the kids, family and friends, watching sport, and cleaning the house? This is of course possible, and indeed exactly what happens in many households, but surely there must be another easier way.

And luckily there are. People like us, together with the versatility of the Internet, telephone and mobile technology, created a number of different resources available, both off- and online, that can provide you with complete, competitively priced home-cooked meals, either freshly prepared or frozen, delivered straight to your home or office. Don’t you think that this could be a viable solution to our modern day needs. These meals and snacks are great after a long day at work, for a special occasion, or even for people who aren’t exactly chefs in their own right.

The “heat and eat” concept will not only save you a lot of money, as many of our customers will inform you they cannot really prepare these meals much cheaper, considering the ever increasing electricity bill, fuel and time spent to go to the shopping centre to buy the ingredients, and then time spent to get out a recipe book to try and prepare a delicious home-cooked meal for the family.
